Description of QEEG Certification

The QEEG Certification Board has been in existence since 1995 certifying professionals at three levels, Technician, Technologist, Diplomate (ranked from lowest certification level to highest). There are 84 Technologists and 32 Diplomates listed on the website. (Certificants: please provide updated information when appropriate.)

Certifications

  • Technician – status obtained by recommendation by a QEEG Diplomate or recognized professional in the field and is only valid when under the direction supervision of a Diplomate.
  • Technologist – A prerequisite for admission to examination is demonstrated competence in the hardware and software components of conducting a neurotherapy session, basic understanding of the QEEG signals and relevance to cognition. Prerequisite can be demonstrated through certification by another agency (BCIA, etc.) or recommendation by a qualified professional in the field. References and copies of certification can be faxed or emailed. Applicant must pass written examination (100 multiple choice items).
  • Diplomate - A prerequisite for admission to examination is demonstrated competence in the hardware and software components of conducting a neurotherapy session, basic understanding of the QEEG signals and relevance to cognition. Prerequisite can be demonstrated through certification by another agency (BCIA, etc.) or recommendation by a qualified professional in the field. Applicant must pass written examination. The Diplomate exam is a more difficult exam than for the technologist.

A certificate is provided upon successful completion of the requirements.

At this point in time, there is no recertification required, no CEU’s are required for maintenance of status, and there are no annual dues. The board may require administrative fees from its certificants from time to time to maintain financial solvency.

The QEEG Board maintains this website, "qeegboard.org" for informational purposes.
